  1. Browser Extensions!

First of all many thanks for this great project. I think there should be browser extensions, especially for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

I mean, when we surfing on the internet, we should be able to quickly add unknown words to the database just with double clicks etc. I think such a beautiful addon is would be nice. I don't have much experience but I think it should be, especially for Google Chrome.

    • Automatically import from RSS feeds

I would love to be able to automatically import text from RSS feeds.

It would be especially awesome if it could support specific sites too, like http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,,8030,00.html which includes both transcript and MP3 of daily German news.

      • More & Improved statistics

More visualization option for statistics (graphics, bars, etc).

        More statistics. Two examples:

        1. Graphic showing how many cards will be reviewed every day for the next x days

        2. Number of cards in an custom interval (i.e: number of cards that are to be reviewed in the next week + number of cards to be reviewed next month, etc).

          • Add mode to show existing terms' translations in reading frame

I find that the "print" version of texts, with the translation hints one has saved so far, greatly increases ease and fluency when reading difficult texts. I wondered if it would be possible to have something like that in normal reading/working mode (when one can also edit old and create new terms), so you wouldn't have to do as much "mouse-work", relying on pop-up fields for getting the translation every time you need one. Having one's translations between the lines might be an even clearer arrangement, but in front of each word works just as well, I suppose.

              • Ability to change audio playback speed

I think the ability to change playback speed, preferably without changing pitch, is essential for language learning. It seems that at least the newer versions of Jplayer support modifying "playback rate", but not sure if it adjusts the pitch. Anyway, can this feature be adapted to LWT? It would allow me not to be constantly switching between an external audio player and my browser.

                • Display imbedded images

I imagine there won't be but since many children's and non-fiction texts like to include them: is there a way at all to have pictures (e.g. jpegs) shown in reading mode?

                  • Create a code for recursive definitions

I suggest the possibility of using a code (e.g. |@#) to put it in front of an already defined word as a definition of a new word.

                    Eg:
Old Word: schön / Translation: beautiful
New Word: schönen / Translation: |@#schön
New Word: schoenen / Translation: |@#schön
New Word: schöner / Translation: |@#schön
New Word: schönes / Translation: |@#schön

Promptbox of "schöner" or "schönes": "beautiful"
                    Or better: "schön: beautiful"

The idea is that when I put the mouse (without cliking) on "schöner" or "schönes" I could see "beautiful" in the prompt box. Off course, I should have defined "schöner" and "schönes"…

                    • More dictionaries available in "LookUp Term: Dict1 Dict2 Dict3 Dict 4"

I use two dictionaries for my French studies. WordReference (French->English and SenseAgent (French->Greek) and GoogleTranslation (French->Greek). Although in 98% of the words this is the perfect combination there some cases where I use also google images to see some nouns (objects, food etc).

I wonder if it would be possible to have the choice of more than the existing dictionaries in the LookUp Term.

                      • Audio input box for each word. URL or system files.

Romanization does not exactly translate to pronunciation of the words. It's easier if I am able to link it. I can attest that even though I am in Korea, I am mispronouncing words because the intonation and the way it is pronounced is sometimes different from it's given. I am not even pronouncing based on romanization but on Korean alphabets. Sometimes a text does not come with audio but searching up the word on websites can come up with the audio needed. Simple.
Does not necessary mean we need to organise audio files on our system.

                        Just trying to persuade…

                        • Solution for Separate Phrases

It's common to have phrases which get separated by other words, or systems like separable verbs in german where the first part gets moved to the end of the clause in most cases. A possible solution for tracking and adding such words is not for them to be recognized automatically by the system, but to be able to select multiple words within a sentence as parts of the phrase. For example, one such word in german is "aufhören", (to stop) but a common use of it separates the two parts, like "Er hört den Zug auf". When adding the word,…

                          • Add the ability to see which texts a specified term is utilized

I use skritter to facilitate learning the tones and writing of chinese characters and all my learning lists in LWT are combined with skritter (chinesepod, etc). Because chinese is often contextual, on occasion a term will arise in isolation on skritter where being able to reference the broader text would be of great benefit.

Being able to search by term or romanization and receiving a list of encompassing texts would accomplish this.

LWT is an excellent program. Please accept my sincerest thanks for your time, effort and expertise in providing such an amazing platform for the rest of us!

The jPlayer that LWT uses seems to be 2.0.0 (Date: 20th December 2010).
There is a new version available at the jplayer site 2.2.0 (http://jplayer.org/)
Could we have the updated version included?

I have some texts of such length or difficulty that I will not read all the way through in one sitting. I would like a text I open to start where I left it so that I don't have to always figure out just where I was. I feel you will likely start where you left off or at the beginning, but the beginning is trivial to locate if it defaults to last position.

First, thank you for this program. We need a speed 0.67x/1.2x/1.5x/2.0x feature urgent. Being able to slower and faster the audio would be very useful. And it is probably easy to implement I guess.

I'd like the word which I answered wrong be tested again in that particular test session, until I will finally answer correct. That option can be activated in settings tab.

Would love to use this software with a summer camp full of elementary students. I'd need a way for all the students to have individual accounts but access to all the SAME documents. Then I'd only have to input the basic 50 reading materials I want, and create 120 user accounts. Rather than uploading 50 reading materials to each of the 120 accounts individually.

                                      • Make a keyboard shortcut to assign blue words as well-known

When using LWT with languages that the learner knows better, usually the majority of blue words won't need to be defined. That's why I would find it useful to have some way to mark them as well-known (if possible "ignore" as well) by a single keystroke rather than the usual moving the mouse and two clicks.
Kindly disregard this suggestion if this should be impossible programming-wise, since it's also been hinted that blue words are treated differently than saved ones making it impossible to cycle through them, so one has to edit them sequentially.

                                        • Open web dictionaries at custom offset from top

Is it possible to have the web dictionaries in the lower right frame automatically open at a certain height (so that they're already scrolled down a bit)? Some dictionaries have a lot of stuff at the top of the loaded page and one has to scroll down every time to get to the actual word definitions.
